Statue Unveiled at AITUC Bhavan

The statue of LalaLajpatRai, the founding President of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), was unveiled on January 28, 2023 on his birth anniversary at AITUC Bhavan. The leaders of ten central trade unions of the country graced the occasion and addressed the gathering.
The statute was unveiled by Amarjeet Kaur general secretary AITUC, and there after a tree was planted by Amarjeet Kaur and Anita Goyal the great grand-daughter of LalaLajpatRai. The tree was brought by the team of Indian Peoples Theatre Association (IPTA) team along with the soil they collected from 50 villages of the great freedom fighters of the country. The IPTA team presented songs on the occasion.
The meeting thereafter chaired by Mohan Sharma National Secretary AITUC was addressed by Amarjeet Kaur, Anita Goyal, VK Singh, president of AITUC,Uttar Pradesh state committee who had got the statue made at Lucknow and the leaders of Central trade unions, AmitavaGuha from CITU, Amjad from INTUC, Manjit from HMS, R K Sharma from AIUTUC, Rajiv Dimri from AICCTU, Suman from SEWA, Rashid Khan from LPF, Dharmendra from TUCC, Shatrujit Singh from UTUC and Narendra from ITUC.


Amarjeet Kaur called upon the working class to rise to the occasion to fight back the offensive of RSS-BJP led government which is ought to undo the freedom, self-reliance, sovereignty of our country. The core values of the constitution for respect to all religions and faith, pluralism of languages, cultures, our dresses, food habits and varied festivals, all are challenged under this regime she said. LalaLajpatRai gave his life for the freedom of the country and dreamt of a free India to meet the aspirations of Indian masses, stood with the working class against the tyrant imperialists and capitalists. In memory of him we pledge to continue the battle against those who are destroying the ‘Idea of India’ itself and oust these enemies of the workers, farmers and the nation from the seat of power.
Anita Goel in her address said that the personality of Lala Lajpat Rai was all inclusive and versatile. He contributed in various fields apart from being a front-rank fighter for the freedom of the country and inspired several generations. All the trade union leaders pledged to strengthen the growing unity of workers and farmers and not only make success of the forthcoming programme of mass mobilisation nationwide alongwith industrial/sectoralstrike by trade unions/federations and associations and GrameenBandh called by SamyuktKisanMorcha on February 16, 2024.
Thereafter the campaign/struggle to continue to oust this policy regime which is an open Corporate Communal nexus against our country. There was clear message to move forward to Save the People and Save the Nation.
KunalRawat in his vote of thanks said that AITUC Founding President died for the freedom of the country, today the duty is bestowed upon us to defend the freedom, its gains and our constitution.
